DIE HARD FANS OF DIE HARD FRANCHISE WAITING ON OUR DIE HARD FINALE!

Article By John Pugh
NOTE: Adam doesn’t know I am writing this and I hope he will forgive me. 🙂

Earlier today I found a cool collectible Bluray set for DIE HARD fans! The Bluray set will be released October 13th 2015. If you’re a hardcore fan of the Nakatomi Plaza standing high above your bluray collection and have an extra $104.99 lying around, then you can PREORDER IT HERE. With that said my post has little to do about the announcement of this Bluray set. Instead it’s about how I initially thought it was funny that they would release this now when there might be one more movie someday in the works. Then that had me really thinking. Maybe this Bluray collection is 20th Century Fox telling the fans that the franchise started with the Nakatomi and died with what ever the misguided efforts of the 5th movie were. Perhaps we see the last of Bruce Willis reprising his role as John McClane. No more terrorists. No more action. no more “Yippee-ki-yay.” Well here’s to hoping that we get one last DIE HARD movie that does justice to the beloved franchise.

As you might of heard, there have been a couple scripts floating around over the past couple years. Relatively unknown and passionate filmmaker/actor, Ben Trebilcook got his completed script out there and received a lot of positive attention. Interestingly enough, our very own Adam Mast was finishing up his treatment and outline for his script around the same time. Both writers reported to making this a final film of the franchise- tying the first movie to this last. From what I know of Adam and have read about Ben, it sounds like they would both deliver the ultimate fan film to the franchise. Something to really send us out with a nice bang!

Our friend, Paul Heath of The Hollywood News, wrote a very nice article on Adam back in 2013 regarding the movement of his script and idea. You can CHECK IT OUT HERE. Why am I breathing life back into this “old” news? Well I guess I am just a die hard DIE HARD fan who wants to see the franchise find its honorable closure. Perhaps legendary action director John McTiernan could find his way back in the mix to finish what he started.

In the end, I just want to get people talking about this again before the franchise meets its demise…or worse. It meets its REBOOT!

You can visit the OLD HABITS DIE HARD Facebook Fan Page to learn more about Adam’s treatment. Also check out Mr. Trebilcook’s treatment at DIE HARD WIKI PAGE to learn more.

In the meanwhile enjoy this little teaser to help fuel the fire and in the words of the great John McClane, “Yippee-ki-yay!”;

  • John, flattery will get you everywhere. The truth is, I had an opportunity to read Ben Trebilcook’s script and I loved it so much that I’ve put my concept on the back burner. I’m proud of the concept I came up with and it would have been a nice bookend but the same could certainly be said for Ben’s script. It’s an absolute joy from beginning to end and it’s perfectly clear that this DIE HARD super fan has an absolute understanding of John McClane and the DIE HARD fan base. Here’s to hoping that Trebilcook’s vision of this iconic character sees the light of day.
