Movie Trailer
Released by Sony Pictures

When Morgan Neville‘s heartfelt documentary WON’T YOU BE MY NEIGHBOR? was released in 2018, I was quick to proclaim it the best film of the year. I was also quick to vent my profound disappointment when the documentary branch of the Academy failed to recognize it for an Oscar nomination. Not only should it have received a nom, but it should also have won the damn award!
Today, Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD from CAN YOU EVER FORGIVE ME? director, Marielle Heller, and quite frankly, it feels like the perfect companion piece to that unforgettable documentary. The film stars Tom Hanks as the real-life superhero that was Mister Rogers. Talk about perfect casting!
If you’re looking for a movie with cynicism, then you’ll want to look elsewhere. A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD looks to be appropriately sentimental, warm, sincere, heartfelt, and gentle. Just like the iconic hero who inspired it.
A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD opens this November.
Synopsis: “Based on the true story of a real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and journalist Tom Junod. After a jaded magazine writer (Emmy winner Matthew Rhys) is assigned a profile of Fred Rogers, he overcomes his skepticism, learning about empathy, kindness, and decency from America’s most beloved neighbor.”
