ST. GEORGE REPRESENT!
Article by Adam Mast
John Pugh and I handle the day to day operations of this site with the gracious aid a few other dedicated individuals. We do it because we love and admire film as an art form. The truth is though, when we’re not out covering festivals and trying to offer up all the film exposure we can, we also love to make our own films.
There’s an age old saying that those who can’t do, critique. This isn’t all together true. We may not be well known, world renowned professionals in the film-making world, but we at Cinemast.net are not just about critiquing other folks’ art. In fact, writing reviews is probably the most unglamorous part of this job. We’re actually more at home when we’re generating buzz, curating, and creating.
Which brings us to the 4th Annual “Filmed in Utah Awards”. While relatively young, this cinematic staple prides itself on honoring the best in Utah based film projects. Cinemast.net is actually based in Southern Utah and we’re happy to report that a handful of talented film-makers from St. George, UT woke up to good news this morning. Here’s a look at some of the nominees in our own backyard.

It’s true that awards are irrelevant in the grand scheme of things, and while this may not be the Oscars, that hardly matters. Anytime you’re recognized for putting your all into something you truly care about, it’s enough to brighten your day.
I’ve been on set with several of these passionate film-makers. I see how hard they work. I see how much they care about what they do. It’s nice to see the recognition because they deserve it.
Kudos to all the nominees!
