“RUDDERLESS”, THE ART OF WRITING, THE POWER OF MUSIC, INDIANA JONES, THE OSCARS, JOE DANTE, “THE WANDERERS”, AND HOW ROCKY ENDED THE COLD WAR!
Article by Adam Mast
2014 was a great year for movies but as is often the case in a given year, there were several films that simply fell through the cracks. Movies that demand to be seen. Titles like COLD IN JULY and THE RAID 2 immediately spring to mind. Another such film is William H. Macy’s outstanding directorial debut, RUDDERLESS. This sobering, music based drama stars Billy Crudup as a grieving man who seeks solace in a box of mysterious demo tapes and a blossoming friendship with a young musician (played by a sweet natured Anton Yelchin.) You can read my glowing REVIEW HERE.
Sheldon Demke and I were fortunate enough to have an epic phone conversation with RUDDERLESS screenwriters Jeff Robison and Casey Twenter and while these talented individuals are relatively new to the scene, they still had plenty of insight to share regarding the making of this gem of a movie. As expected, we went off on several tangents throughout this conversation but that’s to be expected when you get a bunch of hardcore film admirers together.
Sorry the sound quality isn’t quite up to standard, but we still trust that you will enjoy our entertaining chat with Jeff and Casey. More importantly though, we’re confident that you will instantly be compelled to rush out and watch RUDDERLESS after listening to this informative interview.
