FROM AUGUST 14TH TO 16TH, THE ANAHEIM CONVENTION CENTER IS THE PLACE TO BE…PARTICULARLY IF YOU’RE A DISNEY FAN!
Article by Adam Mast
Aside from an unforgettable STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS panel, Disney was virtually absent at Comic-Con International’s iconic Hall H this year. Instead, the legendary studio is throwing their own magical party at the Anaheim Convention Center from August 14th-16th, and fans of the Mouse House from around the world are invited to attend.
In addition to a handful of amazing Disney inspired events, the studio will offer up a look at both their upcoming animation and live action film slates. This means exclusive footage from the likes of FINDING DORY, THE GOOD DINOSAUR, ZOOTOPIA, and MOANA.
It also means attendees will be getting early peeks at highly anticipated releases like CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, THE JUNGLE BOOK, ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS, and a little film called STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS!
As previously stated, the Lucasfilm panel at Comic-Con International was pretty incredible. No new footage from the film but J.J. Abrams, Kathleen Kennedy, and Lawrence Kasdan were on hand and they brought along the majority of the cast. Included: Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford. That’s right! Luke, Leia, and Han together! In the flesh! It was a sight I will never forget!
We were also treated to a magical behind the scenes reel and an outdoor concert featuring the San Diego Symphony performing selections from the STAR WARS score.
Like I said, unforgettable!
What STAR WARS goodness might D23 have to offer? Abrams told the Comic-Con attendees that a new trailer wouldn’t be unveiled until the fall, but I suspect he and his team will have something new to share with fans at this massive Disney shindig, so if you’re a STAR WARS fan, you’ll probably want to be there.
Now that I’ve gone off on a little STAR WARS tangent, it should be noted that, once again, Disney has plenty of great stuff to showcase at this epic three day event. The magic behind THE MUPPETS, a conversation with the geniuses behind INSIDE OUT, a look at 60 years of Imagineering at Disneyland, a TOY STORY retrospective, and much more.
