“They created me, but they cannot control me.”
Paramount Pictures dropped the new GHOST IN THE SHELL Official Trailer. Fans of the anime are curious and a little skeptical of the new live-action film starring Scarlett Johansson. The recent trailers, however, may have offered a fresh optimistic view of the new film adaptation and its purpose for being made. This all new Action Sci-Fi is adapted from the popular Japanese Manga Franchise that started as far back as 1989. The film seems to have a decent budget behind it and offers some great stylish effects and vibrant looks. I’ve seen some of the side-by-side comparison videos from the Anime and the live-action. I’m feeling that there was passion in this project instead of just the normal money grab.
I’m hopeful that GHOST IN THE SHELL will deliver the goods and help tide me over until the release of the new Blade Runner sequel. This might be another great year for Sci-Fi.
The film is Directed by Rupert Sanders (SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN) and stars Scarlett Johansson, Takeshi Kitano, Juliette Binoche, Michael Pitt, Pilou Asbæk, Michael Wincott, Chin Han, and Rila Fukushima.
