DIRECTOR COLIN TREVORROW HAS GOT THE WHOLE “WORLD” IN HIS HANDS
Article by Adam Mast
Forget about the Marvel/DC rivalry. It looks like Universal and Disney are the main event right now. A couple of weeks back it was reported that Universal was going to unveil the JURASSIC WORLD trailer on Thanksgiving Day. Not to be outdone, Disney pops up out of nowhere and announces that they’ll drop their highly anticipated EPISODE VII trailer this holiday weekend also.
Universal counter attacks by giving us a brief but very effective 10 second teaser trumpeting the unveiling of the full JURASSIC WORLD trailer slated to premiere during ABC football this Thursday.
Ok Disney, the ball is in your court.
Focusing on JURASSIC WORLD for a second, I have to say…I’m pretty excited. Universal and Steven Spielberg have taken a big chance on director Colin Trevorrow–An independent film-maker whose sole feature directing credit is SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED. To Trevorrow’s credit though, that sole feature directing credit was pretty damn great. If you haven’t seen SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED, I highly recommend it.
The following ten second JURASSIC WORLD teaser is hardly enough to give us a sense of what to truly expect from this big summer movie but at the very least, it features dinosaurs and it gives us a look at breakout star Chris Pratt. And it’s all punctuated by a haunting, stripped down homage to John Williams’ majestic JURASSIC PARK score.
Trailers for JURASSIC WORLD and STAR WARS THE FORCE AWAKENS in the same weekend! How can a movie fan not be excited about that?!
