SCHWARZENEGGER THE THESPIAN!
Article by Adam Mast
I can’t speak for the rest of you but I much prefer my Arnold Schwarzenegger on the screen rather than in office. His post political office film appearances have yet to reach the heights of his movie stardom heyday but even in under performing releases like THE LAST STAND, ESCAPE PLAN, and THE EXPENDABLES 3, Schwarzenegger still has the likability factor in spades.
While we have to wait until July to see if TERMINATOR: GENISYS is better than it looks, the new movie MAGGIE is worth getting excited about. In MAGGIE, Schwarzenegger plays a man looking to protect his daughter (played by Abigail Breslin) from certain death after she contracts a zombie virus. Rather than descending into typical zombie fare however, MAGGIE looks moody and surprisingly character driven.
While it’s probably worth noting that Schwarzenegger doesn’t talk much throughout the majority of this clip, his steely, heartfelt facial expressions give me hope that this might be a side of The Terminator that we’ve never seen before. Lionsgate certainly seems to think so. They snatched up the distribution rights to MAGGIE and plan to unveil the picture at Tribeca in April.
MAGGIE opens in limited release on May 8th.
