EARLY WORD SUGGESTS INTERSTELLAR IS STELLAR!
By Adam Mast
A lot of INTERSTELLAR news this week. In addition to a handful of new images from the film comes word that Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated epic will clock in at a whopping 169 minutes! Better still, Aint-it-cool-news is reporting that Nolan held a special advance screening for a handful of journalists and this is the buzz coming out of that screening;
“Not only is this Nolan’s masterpiece, but it is a watershed achievement in both form and content.”
As if I needed another reason to see it!
Finally, and this might be the best INTERSTELLAR news yet (particularly if you live in the Los Angeles area), The legendary Chinese Theater in Hollywood is installing a special 70mm projector in its Imax house specifically for the release of this film. That’s right! One of the most iconic and celebrated movie theaters in the world is going out of its way to present INTERSTELLAR the way Nolan intended it to be seen. Can this mean that actual film stock still has a little bit of life left in it? Well, that remains to be seen but news like this certainly makes me wish I still lived in the L.A. area.
The Chinese is already close to my heart. I saw countless films there during my teenage years, films that left a long lasting impression on me (TEMPLE OF DOOM, THE GOONIES, LAST CRUSADE, and EVIL DEAD 2, just to name a few), and when I moved away from Los Angeles, that theater is one of the things I missed most about the city.
Come November 7th, perhaps a special road trip is in order.
