Just last week, the Cinemast.net crew spent some quality scare time at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, CO for “The Stanley Film Festival” and in short, it was amazing! Of course, it helps that we’re all avid time horror film fans.
One of the big themes flowing throughout many of the films at “Stanley” this year appeared to be; “Children in peril.” Movies like COOTIES and fest standout THE TREATMENT had no problems whatsoever putting kids through the ringer. Why the new Turkish horror flick SICCIN 2 wasn’t on the roster is beyond me.
I’m a proud father of 4 and whenever I see harm befalling children, be it on the news or in the movies, it upsets me profoundly. In fact, a crying baby on screen is far more upsetting to me then any disturbing image a horror film-maker might conjure up.
Enter SICCIN 2. I must confess that I’ve never even heard of part 1, but this disturbing clip really made my skin crawl. And to my great dismay, this looks to be one of those movies where children do not make it through unscathed.
Given that bad things clearly happen to kids in SICCIN 2, you’re probably wondering if I’ll even have the balls to sit through it. The answer is…Probably. I have a hard time saying no to atmospheric horror films, but when I do eventually check this one out, there’s a good chance that I’ll be watching stretches of it with my hand firmly planted over my eyes.
This trailer freaked me out! Especially that final frame.
