For EVIL DEAD fans, Halloween can’t come soon enough! Why? Because that’s when Starz will finally drop the first episode of Sam Raimi’s highly anticipated t.v. series, ASH VS. THE EVIL DEAD.
Back in July, we got our first good look at the show by way of a fantastic extended trailer. Now, Starz has unveiled a badass behind the scenes peek at the series.
Bruce Campbell is back as the snarky, deadite ass-kicking Ash and while the world has changed since we last saw him in action, this one-handed warrior’s demeanor hasn’t changed at all. Neither has Sam Raimi’s creative storytelling skills.
I loved the first EVIL DEAD and ARMY OF DARKNESS remains one of the most underappreciated movies of the 90’s. Having said that, EVIL DEAD II ranks high amongst my favorite films of all time. With it’s pitch perfect fusion of horror, over the top gore, and “Three Stooges”-inspired slaptstick lunacy, DEAD BY DAWN is a landmark horror picture driven by Campbell’s incredible physicality and Raimi’s high energy direction.
ASH Vs. THE EVIL DEAD looks to have a tone akin to EVIL DEAD 2 and that makes me immensely happy. The fact we’re going to get multiple episodes directed by Raimi himself, makes me even happier.
If you’re not already excited enough for this series, this behind the scene reels should more than do the trick!
