From the creative mind of Charlie Kaufman comes a film folks are already calling a masterpiece. They’re also calling it the most human picture of the year which is quite extraordinary given that there are no actual humans in it.
ANOMALISA is actually a stop-motion animated film but what really sets it apart is how purely grounded in reality it looks. It’s a story about a man crippled by the mundane nature of his own life and how a woman brings him out of his existential funk.
Some folks are already questioning why Kaufman would do this film in stop-motion animation when he simply could have cast his vocal actors (which include David Thewlis, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Tom Noonan) in a live action version of the same script. To that, I say I don’t care. This movie looks absolutely beautiful and I can’t wait to see it!
ANOMALISA opens in limited release on December 30th.
