DIRECTOR(S) NAMED FOR THE NEXT “STAR WARS ANTHOLOGY” FILM!

Article by Adam Mast

Wow! Hot on the heals of spoiler worthy STAR WARS ANTHOLOGY:  ROGUE ONE news (don’t worry…I won’t spoil that particular news here) comes word that Phil Lord and Chris Miller (the wonderfully funny and creative team behind THE LEGO MOVIE and 21 JUMP STREET) will be directing a Han Solo ANTHOLOGY film! This news comes courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter and StarWars.com.

It should be noted that Lord and Miller’s movie is not the STAR WARS ANTHOLOGY film that director Josh Trank was initially attached to. A replacement director for that picture has yet to be named.

Is a Han Solo spinoff a good idea? That’s a matter of opinion, but one thing is certain: Lord and Miller have proven to be quite adept at turning not-so-good ideas into cinematic gold. Given their involvement, consider me intrigued.

Now, let’s see who lands the role of a lifetime. Casting Han Solo will be no easy task. Perhaps the role will go to Anthony Ingruber, the actor who played Harrison Ford’s William Jones as a young man in AGE OF ADALINE. Or, perhaps the role will go to someone more high profile. We’ll certainly keep you posted.

Why Lucasfilm released this news today rather thank holding  it for their big Comic-Con panel this Friday, is beyond me. Perhaps that was the game plan and the news leaked. Whatever the case may be, you have to admire the bold choices Lucasfilm is making with their director choices.

Thoughts?
