One peek at this teaser trailer, and you’d think you were looking at the latest Pixar effort. Only this isn’t a Pixar film. Yes, it’s being distributed by Disney and yes, it’s John Lasseter approved, but this one is coming directly from the Mouse House animation department and it looks positively adorable. Directed by Ron Clements and John Musker (the team behind the wonderfully creative and decidedly old school THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG), the Polynesian-tinged MOANA is fueled by lively vocal work from charismatic Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and what’s more, it will feature tunes by red hot “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda. Add to this a writing credit from Taika Waititi (WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS and the upcoming HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE), and you have all the makings of a winner. Check out this immensely entertaining trailer.
SYNOPSIS:
“Three thousand years ago, the greatest sailors in the world voyaged across the vast Pacific, discovering the many islands of Oceania. But then, for a millennium, their voyages stopped – and no one knows why.
From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes “Moana,” a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana (voice of Auli’i Cravalho) meets the once-mighty demigod Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder. Together, they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity.”
RELEASE DATE:
Disney’s MOANA sails into theaters nationwide on November 23rd 2016!
