THIS MOVIE LOOKS “FANTASTIC”!
Article By Adam Mast
As we continue to experience the exhilarating cinematic adventure that is the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, I hopped on-line to discover a nice little treat from 20th Century Fox. After months of speculation and several weeks of skepticism from nervous fans, Fox has finally unveiled a look at Josh Trank’s big screen take on Marvel’s FANTASTIC FOUR starring Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, and Jamie Bell.
Word has circulated that this has been a bit of a troubled production and that’s why the studio has been quiet about the big August release. This week, however, director Trank (who made the excellent found footage super hero movie, CHRONICLE) broke his silence and had a sit down with Frosty over at Collider.com to set the record straight in regard to his take on this beloved super hero property.
As expected, he was vague in terms of actual plot details and there’s still no telling whether or not this really was a troubled production, but quite frankly, after seeing this teaser, I’m on board. I think it looks pretty great. Granted, it should be noted I don’t have a deep rooted connection to the comic books. I just want to see a good movie.
This trailer doesn’t really give us sense of the action beats, but it does give us a sense of character and tone. It also gives us a peek at the overall look of the film. Positively gorgeous if you ask me. And I’m totally digging what I presume is a Toby Kebbell (Victor Domashev, aka Doom) voice over. It’s bad ass and reminds me a bit of what his DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES co-star Andy Serkis did with his narration on that spectacular EPISODE VII teaser just a couple of months ago.
Once again, this is just a two minute tease but I feel like it should be enough to restore hope in the minds of fans who have written this one off as a disaster. As for the movie as a whole, we have until August 7th to ponder.
Personally, I’m getting excited for this one. What do you all think?
