Guess who’s back? Back again. Johnny Depp returns as Captain Jack Sparrow in the 5th installment of the Pirates franchise with all new PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES. However, if you’re looking forward to seeing Ol’ Jack Sparrow in this first look then you might be disappointed. Instead this first teaser introduces you to the ghostly Pirate ghoul Captain Salazar, devilishly played by Javier Bardem, who seems to have it out for Jack Sparrow. The darkly aesthetics of the new film is nothing new for the franchise but from the looks of the production value, it should be a visual feast.
Filmmakers Joachim Rønning, Espen Sandberg (BANDIDAS & Oscar Nominated remake KON-TIKI) set off to continue pushing the Disney franchise forward. They may be able to pull it off too from the looks of the first footage. I haven’t been excited about a Pirates movie in a long time. I’m not saying that I’m excited yet, just hopeful as this first tease gave me a spark. Perhaps this will bring many back on board and have us saying again, “Yo Ho! A Pirate’s life for me!”
The film offers up a lively colorful cast to say the least, Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, Kaya Scodelario, Orlando Bloom, David Wenham, Brenton Thwaites, Geoffrey Rush, and Paul McCartney? I’m curious to see what a Beetle is doing with Pirates.
SYNOPSIS:
“Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar, escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him.
