Hmmm. I’m really torn on this one. The purist in me screams “Why, WHy, WHY!!” I quite like Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt, and I’m a big fan of director Gil Kenan (MONSTER HOUSE is great!) but there’s not a whole lot featured in this clip that wasn’t already done brilliantly by Spielberg and Hooper the first time around. This reboot looks slick and there are a few awesome images in there, but there’s CG overload and ultimately, I’m still left pondering “Why, WHy, WHY!!” Oh, and as much as I love Jared Harris, a Zelda Rubenstein he’ll never be. Am I going to see this movie when it opens in July? Of course I am. I just wish I was more excited about it.
